From the Student Wellbeing Team

The role of the student wellbeing team at MGSC encompasses a variety of responsibilities that works using evidence-based practices to support students when onsite;

  • Engage in early intervention program development and support for students.
  • Assist students to develop problem-solving skills.
  • Work with staff and young people to develop coping skills, contributing to creating positive, inclusive and supportive school environments.
  • Assist families with financial needs to ensure learning success.
  • Liaise with local City Council on issues affecting young people.
  • Provide positive mental health promotion using a holistic approach to student wellbeing, so that students can take maximum advantage of learning opportunities at MGSC.
  • Select and implement whole-school supports.
  • Work with external family support systems, government and non-government to enhance whole of wellbeing support to students in the classroom.
  • At times the wellbeing team will consult and work with Child Protection and The Orange Door.
Student can self-refer by talking to a sub school manager.
At MGSC students have access to a number of additional free or low-cost counselling and youth supports.
Kingston Youth Services – Visiting Psychologists - Kingston Youth Services offers individual online or phone support services for young people aged 12-25 who have a connection to the City of Kingston. This support includes both Youth Work and Counselling. Visiting Psychologists co-located on selected days and times.
