Our students are assisted and supported to discover their future vocational path through tertiary study and career development.
A network of partner colleges and institutions give access to a wide range of Vocational Education and Training (VET) courses.
Year 10 level students receive additional support and resources to assist their subject selection for year 11 and 12. It starts with the work experience program. Below is an overview of what's offered at this year level at MGSC.
From year 10 to VCE
For year 10 students, subject selection is particularly important as these are choices for their VCE program. During year 11 and 12 students at MGSC study their VCE (Victorian Certificate of Education). The subjects they study and their achievements in those subjects will influence their options when applying for tertiary study.
It's important that year 10 students make considered decisions and it requires them to think now about what they might want to do after leaving secondary school. This can be tricky for those students who are really not sure yet what they want to do after year 12.
To assist students make the best decisions we have a number of supports and resources available:
- The MGSC VCE and VET Handbooks provide subject outlines and are available through Compass
- Subject videos for each VCE subject that provide insight into each VCE study
- Resources such as the year 10 Guide to Subject Selection, links to career websites and more
- Individual Subject recommendations for English and Mathematics
- Work experience program
- A Careers Expo provided onsite
- Opportunity for 1:1 course counselling with the Careers Coordinator
