Your child’s government primary school will provide you with guidance on how to access the Year 7 Placement Information Pack and Application Form.

Apply for MGSC

The Department of Education and Training (DET) sets the guidelines and process for enrolling a student in a government school at Year 7.  The process varies depending on the school the student attends in Year 6 (government or Catholic/independent). When applying for MGSC:

MGSC does not have an out-of-zone application form. Use the Application for Year 7 Placement 2021 form provided by DET and put MGSC as first preference in Section 4B.

The application date is now Friday 29 May, a two week extension.

Enhancement Program requires an additional application. Registration has now closed. 

Use email for enquiries or to to submit documents to MGSC.

We currently have students from over 40 schools attending MGSC.  The process for enrolling at MGSC can be summarised as:

Currently attending a Victorian Government primary school

Complete the Application for Year 7 Placement 2021 This will be distributed by your primary school.

List MGSC as your first school preference (Section 4B).

Return the form to your child’s primary school by Friday 29 May. (revised 16/4)

Applying for Enhancement Program

Placement offers

Parents/carers receive notification of placement offers from Wednesday 19 August.

If there are more applications than positions, the DET placement guidelines are used as follows:

1. Students for whom the school is the designated neighbourhood school.
2. Students with a sibling at the same permanent address who are attending the school at the same time.
3. Where the regional director has restricted the enrolment, students who reside nearest the school.
4. Students seeking enrolment on specific curriculum grounds.
5. All other students in order of closeness of their home to the school.
6. In exceptional circumstances, compassionate grounds.
