Swimming Carnival

The annual MGSC Swimming Carnival takes place at Carnegie Swim Centre every February. Throughout the day the girls compete in over 20 events ranging from freestyle to diving to recreational events such as the boat race, and the infamous staff v student race. Points are awarded to every competitor as well as for the winning House in the dance and chant competitions, which contribute to their overall House tally. The House with the most points at the end of the day wins the MGSC Swimming Carnival competition. These results are added on to the Athletics, Cross Country and House Music results to determine the overall House champion.

Athletics Carnival

Throughout the day the girls compete in a variety of events from walking to sprints and long distance, hurdles, long jump and triple jump, high jump, and novelty events. The House with the most points at the end of the day wins the MGSC Athletics Carnival competition. These results are added on to the Swimming, Cross Country and House Music results to determine the overall House champion.

Cross Country Carnival

The annual MGSC Cross Country Carnival takes place around the school every April. This Carnival runs throughout the morning as the students compete across their various age groups. Participation is strongly encouraged as each competitor achieves points for their House depending where they finish. Games and novelty events are held throughout the day around the gymnasium and outdoor netball courts. The House with the most points at the end of the day wins the MGSC Cross Country Carnival competition. These results are added on to the Athletics, Swimming and House Music results to determine the overall House champion.

House Music

House Music is the Music equivalent of the Athletics or Swimming Carnival and provides every student in the College the opportunity to participate in their House choir or band. It is entirely a student directed activity – led by the student House Captains and Conductors with the support of staff House Mentors and House Music Specialists. House Music is one of the only opportunities where students work together across mixed year levels towards a common goal. Every student in the College will participate in the House Chant and Choral Competition, and the Choral, Soloist and Instrumental sections.
